Albania is situated in the heart of the Balkans and until 1991 was a hard line communist State with little contact with the outside World. Since the fall of communism Albania has had to struggle with extreme unemployment, migration, corruption, crime, civil unrest and a developing world infracstructure. Things are getting better. We have been working in Albania since 1996. It all started with delivering a truck with aid.
The Church in Albania is youthful, finding it easy to attract children and young people but struggling to reach the older generations. Our Church in Paskuqan runs a Kids Church, adult meetings, annual kids clubs, youth work and provides free English lessons. Opportunties exist for short term and longer term Christian workers in Albania. We own a team base, community hall and house with a well established team of Church workers who all speak excellent English.

Our heart has been to bring good news to the community of Paskuqan, so we picked the biggest building in the area, the local school. Back in 1999, we found a building with a flat roof that constantly leaked, rotten wood window frames with hardly any panes of glass, no electricity, broken doors, rancid toilets and no equipment.
Since then we have replaced the main school & gym roof, refurbished the gym, re-wired the whole building, replaced wood frames with new PVC windows, replaced internal doors and provided several hunderd chairs and desks. Since 2005, we have also started taking teams into the school to work with the children, mainly through sports coaching and puppets.

We love taking short term teams into Albania as it encourages the local people and helps build lasting friendships. Short term teams are a great way of using people’s skills and interests to benefit the community in Paskuqan. Recent teams include football coaching, youth and children’s teams, building teams and artists.
